Biography

John de Stratelinges, son and heir of Sir Peter de Stratelinges and his wife, Joan de Hawey, was born about 1292, as he was able to hold title of manors by 18 September 1314. ^{[1] [2]}

After his father, Sir Peter, died, his mother then married Sir John Penbrigg, who was granted wardship over Sir Peter's estates and both young sons, John and his younger brother, Edward, until such time as they attained 21 years of age. ^[2]

By 18 September 1314, John was 21 years or older and able to inherit hereditary titles, along with the knight's fee of St. Donat's and other family estates from his parents. ^[3]

John de Stratelinges must have died by 1316 and without issue, as his brother, Edward Stradling, was listed as Lord of St. Donat's in that year.
